Het prototype

Het prototype ooit ontworpen om deel te nemen in de CC class tijdens de COTY 2004 scoorde hier een voor Basman een eerste plaats. Basman ontwierp en bouwde de eerste serie frames. De eerste serie frames, zeven zijn er ooit gemaakt, door Basman himself.  

Het was Basman's eerste serieuze bouwproject, na het opknappen van een aantal cruisers, maar waarbij zijn lengte toch altijd als probleem naar voren kwam als er gereden werd. Dus dan maar zelf gebouwd was de gedachte. Basman scoorde de eerste plaats tijdens de COTY dat jaar en tijdens de FBI Part IV nam Bas deel aan de dragrace op zijn race versie.

In de tussenliggende periode was de Chopperdome al in gesprek met Basman over het aanbieden van deze bike tegen een schappelijke prijs, met de looks van een klassieke Nederlandse fiets. Gedurende het jaar werden aantal van modificaties gedaan aan het orgineel en een aantal onderdelen gemaakt om zo te komen tot de Basman Classic.

The prototype serie was done by the Basman himself at the Basman playgrounds november 2004 and made it into the finals of the Bikes behind the Dikes to claim to most prestigues title in the CC class. This first serie of seven Basman33 frames became known as the lucky seven. The first build up by the Basman took first price. And tryed with a dragracing model his luck at the FBI Dragrace competion. By that time the Basman and the Chopperdome already started talking about producing this frame at an affordable price, with the look of a classic Dutch bike.

De eerste Project 346 Basman serie

Project 346 is trots de Basman Classic en Limited series te kunnen aankondigen. Na eerste introductie op Bikemotion 2005 en wederom een prijs in de wacht slepend tijdens de COTY 2005 wordt de Project 346 Basman tijdens Eurobike 2006 voor het eerst aan het grote publiek gepresenteerd.

The first production prototype

Na ontvangst van het eerste productie prototype zat er niks anders op dan de Basman Classic die gedurende het najaar en winter opgebouwd was geweest maar weer eens uit elkaar te halen en zien of alles past. Het frame weer opbouwen met de onderdelen van het origineel was simpel. Natuurlijk moesten we een ander achterwiel spaken, de hele achtervork in ten opzichte van het orgineel verbreed. Omdat de naaf die we nodig hadden nog niet was gearriveerd ff op zoek gegaan naar een single speed naaf met langere as in de Garage. De achtervork heeft een insteek van 132 mm, waardoor elke gangbare 3, 7 of 8 Shimano Nexus versnellingsnaaf gebruikt kan worden. In combinatie met het off-set achtertandwiel kan er ook gekozen worden voor bredere velg, zonder problemen te hebben met de kettinglijn. Het frame heeft door zijn opbouw een perfecte basis voor bondo, de ultimate sled lowrider. De eerste serie Basman 346 streched cruisers zullen alle single speed zijn, 26" wielen, double down vork en extra wijd moonstuur. 

With the first prototype from a production factory, the first steps in production are made, we had no other option then to take original show protoype apart. And then we started adding the parts we selected on the production prototype. But as we had changed the rear fork in the drawings send we needed a another rear axle as used on the original. Luckely we had an old 130 mm rear axle and that did the job. Yes, this rear fork can host various rims and tires, 80 mm is possible and 7 speed shimano can easily be placed without having to bent the rear fork. With a lot of frame to experiment, the rear fork and top frame an perfect platforms for bondo jobs...the ultimate Sled lowrider. The first series will come all be single speed, 26" front and rear as this is, you can't imagion ... a speed cruiser. Double down fork and extra wide handlebars. 

 The most competable frame

Met de laatste modificatie gedaan is het Basman 346 frame klaar voor productie. De eerste serie Basman 346 komt in twee versies. De basis versie, de Basman Classic in zwart of burgundy rood en de Classic 100S serie met meer luxe. 
De Classic heeft een bruin beachcruiser zadel met diamand patroon, bijpassen handvatten, trommelrem voor, "whitewall" banden en verchroomd achterspatbord.

De deLuxe serie, de Basman 346 Classic 100S komt in het zwart en komt met oa. met aluminium trommelrem voor, 346 Shorty A head en bijpassende "Chopperdome cap".
Er gaat niets boven een leer zadel, dus komt de 100S serie met extra breed leer zadel van Nederlandse makelij. Het Chopperdome cruiserzadel by Lepper. Extra brede 47 mm aluminium velgen.

With the final modification done on the Basman frame we are ready to go into the first production. The first Basman serie will see two lines. The Basman classic in black and burgundy. Double down fork, moonhandlebar, alloy rims, front drum brake, tan diamond seat and tan grips, single speed coaster brake with 22T offset rear sprocket, whitewall tires and chrome plated "10 to 10" fenders.The deluxe serie, The Basman 100S in black or pearl white, will have additional to the classic alloy sealed bearing drum brake hub, a real double spring leather seat with embossed Chopperdome logo, shorty headstem, double wall 47mm wide alloy rims, alloy grips, logo headset cap. The 132 mm rear fork in combination with the standard offset rear sprocket will make this bike very competable bike. 3 or 7 Speed build up is no problem, neither is a DHL 80, the chainline will clear due to the offset sprocket.
 

Ready to show for the first time

Met de eerste productie bijna klaar om verscheept te worden zijn we op tijd voor Eurobike. Bezoek ons op Eurobike, stand: FG-B8-4. Dat is dus op het binnenterrein en laat je verrassen met een cocktail. Basman eerste productie serie nummer: BAS3460600xxx

The birth of a new era in cruisin"

Na de eerste serie en het overwinnen van een paar kinderziektes is het in 2008 tijd voor de tweede serie, serie nummers beginnen met BAS3460700xxx en hebben en 346 highcard stempel op de crankplaat.

De tweede serie bestaat uit de Basman 100SL en Basman 107SL, de volwassen geworden deLuxe serie. De 100SL is de single speed en de 107SL de Shimano 7 speed uitvoering.

Al het goede van deze eerste serie met tal van kleine upgrades. Nieuw is het voorspatbord en kettingkast. Ook hebben we een nieuwe vork voor de Project 346 Basman bikes, met een kleine off set maakt het deze bike wel heel lekker lui, maar zo geweldig om te fietsen. De whitewall banden zijn verdwenen, maar daarvoor in de plaats staat de Basman voortaan op Schwalbe Fat Frank.

Early 2008 the second series were done. Improvements were made and some new items added. New off set fork for more lazy look and frontfender, the chrome chainguard went and was replaced by new. Rims are painted and instead of whitewall tires Schwalbe Fat Franks were added. The second serie frames have besides the serie# a 346 Highcard logo stamped on the BB plate.

The second serie has to models the 100SL, the single speed version and 107SL with shimano seven speed rollerbrake hub. (see photo) Both models in black or white, the 107SL in limited edition silver/orange.

 

Project 346 goes worldwide

Met de tweede serie gaat de Basman ook wereldwijd. Vanaf september 2008 is het Basman frame ook verkrijgbaar in de USA en Canada.  Do the distance in style.
